Here at Swift Performance we would always recommend using good quality oils in your car whether it is in the engine, diff or gearbox. We keep stock of several brands & grades of oil ranging from Millers, Fuchs, Red Line, Castrol & Shell depending on the spec and use of the vehicle. We also like to use genuine filters where possible.
Oil changes should be carried out at the recommended intervals but we would also recommend an interim oil & filter change on most cars. We strongly recommend this on engines such as the B58 that have common oil filter issues.
B58 Oil filter issue:
The B58 engine oil filter is prone to shearing at the bottom & breaking up when removed. This leaves a portion of the oil filter stuck in the bottom of the oil filter housing as well as the remains of the filter. Normally we are able to remove the damaged parts and as much of the visible debris as possible, meaning a new filter housing is not required.
